The Sub

The SeaQuestor Flyer has become a 16-foot submersible with a depth rating of 1,000 feet and an operational depth of 500 feet with 2 pilot positions and 72 hours of breathable scrubbed air. Designed to fly under the sea with forward canard wings, rear elevators and rudder, the Flyer will be able to go 6 miles off shore at speed of 10-12 knots with forward sonar to guide it. With 24" diameter acrylic domes for each pilot, and an offset viewing position, each crew member will enjoy a 360 degree viewing experience.

With 4 thrusters that are capable of 400 lbs of thrust and 2 direction thrusters for elevation control, the Flyer provides the power to easily navigate and explore. Using both static and dynamic controls, the Flyer is set to neutral buoyancy to slip smoothly beneath the surface, while the joystick thruster controls allows the pilot to navigate the Flyer into turns by banking with the independently controlled canard wings.

 The SeaQuestor Flyer also features:

  • 3 banks of batteries that provides an excess power supply for thruster control and for the life support systems

  • An emergency buoy system that locates positions using GPS, as well as radio contact over VHF and cell networks

  • Sonar technology that assists the pilot to determine collision avoidance with surface vehicles

  • Emergency egress from an external extraction team with communication capabilities through an external com port that can also provide additional oxygen to the life support system

  • Green laser lights that provides low-level lighting on the exterior of the sub

  • Utilizing  tablet PC technology, the pilot can navigate with a heads-up display on the observation domes

  • Internal and external video stations throughout the sub for recording events, which makes a for an excellent teaching tool
